For a long time I have liked working with thread : embroidery, weaving, macramé. Also passionate about photography, I merged the two together into my art.
My inspiration comes from memories of a journey or a walk... along the sea, on the beach scavanging for shells, wandering in the country side or the city...
I like to catch lights, feelings and moments with my camera. Then, editing the pictures on my computer allows me to extend the journey through time. As I work I find a balance between the shapes and colors until the work becomes a unified "photo-embroidery".
TECHNIQUE
I choose the pictures to embroid following three main themes : - reflexions in the water - details of a building, landscape, structure.... - large perspectives : a street, complete landscape...
The original pictures are edited by computer in order to prepare a work grid, select and cut areas that will be embroided and kept as is.
The final set up is realized upon two techniques : - cartoon style with a separation photo / embroidery - unified : with almost no distinctions between photo en embroided areas.
All my artworks are produced on 100% cotton canvases.
